Welcome weary traveller. If you've stumbled upon this page congratulations! You may be among the first people to be a part of something burgeoning and new.
And that's really a huge part of why most of us are here on Neocities isn't it? To experience something active the majority will never know of. Me personally, I feel a quiet almost secret joy knowing I take part in something somewhat exclusive due to its lack of mainstream exposure.
So even if this page seems lackluster and boring know it will grow and you were one of the first to ever experience it.
I say a little about me as opposed to including the full "about me" section because I'm a multifaceted individual and this early in my site's "development process" there's no way I can draft a respectable "About Me".
Anyway, semantics aside I suppose my largest idiosyncrasy is the priority I place on privacy. I like having a very small digital footprint, I gave up social media ages ago and I've adopted a very "burn after reading" mentality. I despise the idea of being tracked by corporations, governments, stalkers, fans―whoever. There's a genuine fear I have for the future of our privacy and that fear seems to become less ridiculous and more tangible with each day and with each headline.
An idiosyncrasy... Because I choose to share this on a public, non exclusive open-ended platform that the wayback machine will likely burn into the DNA of the internet for eternity. But that's the thing. I've made this conscious decision. It was mine along with the risks associated with it not the decision of some data broker. With that in mind choice is another tenet I hold with a great deal of personal value.
I saw something very special happening here on Neocities and its associated communities, something that I felt passionate enough about to expose myself over. People taking back corners of the internet for themselves, people sharing the way *they* want where they want; allowing their creativity to outshine the cold grey platitutdes of web 2.0 big tech continually pushed. I yearn for the past and until now the internet has simultaniously bored me and scared me to tears.
I suppose I could continue to rant here but I don't want to immediately be known as some sort of paranoid blowhard, I have other things I'd rather be known for, particularly creative pursuits I wish to share. This won't be a platform for long-winded and disgruntled political discourse―quite the opposite. I loathe politics. You can compulsively obsess over your masters without me. No, this section serves more than anything as insight into my motives for coming here. Heh, I read this and cringed, wonder why I didn't just write an itemized list of things I do and value. Well hopefully you came for a bit of substance. You'll learn even more about me in time as this place develops. Thank you for reading.
